Book Your ConsultationSmooth skin, without the snagging
Skin tags are soft, harmless growths that tend to appear where skin rubs, such as the neck, underarms, groin and eyelids. They are common, become more likely as we get older, and can catch on clothing and jewellery or simply knock your confidence.
Shannon removes skin tags with two precise methods, advanced electrolysis and Cryopen, and chooses between them at your consultation based on the size, position and number of tags you want treated.

Two ways to remove skin tags
Shannon chooses the method at your consultation, based on the size and position of each tag.
Advanced electrolysis
Using Sterex short wave diathermy, a fine, sterile probe delivers a controlled current. Smaller tags fall away within a few days of treatment, while larger ones are cauterised off.
Advanced electrolysis for skin blemishesCryopen
A fine jet of nitrous oxide freezes the tag at around −89°C in a few seconds, with no needles and no anaesthetic. A small scab forms and falls away on its own.
More about CryopenHow skin tag removal works
Every treatment starts with a consultation at Shannon’s clinic in Upper Cambourne. She examines your skin tags and the skin around them, goes through your medical history and agrees a plan based on their size, position and number.
Several tags can usually be treated in one session, and the technique is matched to where each one sits and to your skin type.
Consultation and skin check
Shannon examines each tag, talks through your concerns and medical history, and recommends the right method for you.
Your treatment
The area is cleansed and each tag is treated precisely, protecting the healthy skin around it. Sessions usually last 15 to 45 minutes.
Healing
Mild redness, slight swelling or a small scab usually settle within a few days, and you go home with clear aftercare.
Aftercare and suitability
A few simple steps help your skin heal well after treatment.
Looking after your skin
Keep the treated area clean and dry for 24 hours.
Avoid scrubbing or picking at the treated area.
Protect the area from the sun and use SPF outdoors.
Avoid swimming pools and hot tubs until fully healed.
Get in touch with Shannon if you notice any signs of infection.
If Cryopen is recommended
Shannon goes through your medical history first. Cryopen isn’t suitable if you:
have Raynaud’s, cold urticaria or cryoglobulinaemia
have used isotretinoin (Roaccutane) in the last 6 to 12 months
are pregnant or breastfeeding
have a skin tag close to the eyes
Skin tag removal questions answered
Is skin tag removal painful?
Most clients describe minimal discomfort. Advanced electrolysis feels like a mild warmth with a pinprick or tapping sensation, and Cryopen gives a brief, sharp cold sting. Shannon works within your comfort zone throughout.
How many skin tags can be removed in one session?
Several skin tags can usually be treated in a single session. There may be an additional cost for numerous or larger tags, which Shannon will confirm at your consultation.
Are there any side effects?
Removal is generally safe. You may notice temporary redness or slight swelling, and in rare cases minor scarring or changes in pigmentation.
Will my skin tags grow back?
The skin tags that are removed won’t grow back. New ones can still develop in the same area or elsewhere over time, particularly if you’re prone to them.
Why not remove skin tags at home?
Home methods may not remove the whole tag and carry a higher risk of infection. Professional removal is carried out in a clean, sterile setting, with the method matched to the size and position of each tag and proper aftercare afterwards.
